APOLOGIZING - INNER-ACTION SERIES #2

Note: This planetary face-to-face time with yourself, minus the usual distraction of busy-ness, can be an opening to self-awareness and transformation. Each in this series of timely blogs focuses on one theme you might be going through or pondering. Serendipitously, they all start with the letter A.

I challenge you to dive inside. You just might have some personal breakthroughs and maybe help create a "Hundredth Monkey" global transformation.

Elton John was right. "Sorry seems to be the hardest word."

Apologizing can be tough, which is why this week's Inner-Action goal is to look within and acknowledge who you need to say I'm sorry to. Don't forget to include yourself on that list.

Truth is, we’ve all messed up in big and small ways.

Even if you try to justify what you did, there’s a Bigger Part of you, your Higher Consciousness, that desperately wants to make amends. It's the important ninth step in Twelve Step programs, and bypassing it will guarantee it a Death Bed Regret.

Since we're all face-to-face with mortality issues right now, cleaning things up is no longer just a nice, theoretical notion you'll do someday. It's important, maybe even vital, to do it now.

APOLOGIZING FACTS

Apologizing is heart-wired in your Inner Operating System. One of the spiritual reasons you've chosen this life is to clean up things you've done that you feel bad about and to stop doing more. Until you do, the guilt you drag along thwarts your power and gets in the way of manifesting what you desire.

Apologizing authentically, humbly admitting what you did, opens the door to real communication and connectedness. Yes, it might be tough, but it's healing and liberating for both you as well as the recipient.

Apologizing helps rebuild trust and reestablish integrity in relationships as well as in all areas of your life.

Apologizing shows a willingness to take responsibility which can strengthen self-confidence as well as self-respect.

Not apologizing affects your health as well as how much you believe you deserve in life.

Not apologizing attracts situations where you don't get apologized to. That's karma 101.

Apologizing Inner-Action Suggestions

Take an honest look inside and see who you need to apologize to. Who pops into your mind instantly? That's the one(s).

What do you need to do to clean things up? A heart-to-heart? A letter? A repayment of some kind? Again, trust what immediately comes to mind even if it's scary or seems impossible. There's always a way, even if the action is a symbolic gesture of some kind.

Do it! Come from a sincere, authentic, purely motivated place, with the desire to clean up and restore a damaged relationship.

Simultaneously, don't have preconceived expectations as to what will happen; just trust the process.

The first step is forgiving yourself or you’ll be desperately trying to have them make you feel better, or struggling to convince them of something. That won’t work. People always reflect the truth.

Instant forgiveness may not happen. Give them time to heal knowing that you did what you needed to do. You may need to work on forgiving yourself a bit more and then see what happens. Remember: Mirrors never lie.

At the end of your life, you’ll regret all those times you didn’t apologize. You deserve to live regret free.

Especially now.
