You may pride yourself on being honest, but are you honest with yourself? Do you justify your false inner beliefs, thinking they are different than lying to others, maybe even acceptable?
False beliefs are automatic negative thoughts, clothed in various outfits. They pass for common sense, pretending to help and protect you. But they actually fool you, keep you confined inside limitations, forgetting the truth of who you are and why you are here.
These untruths are subtle and often tough to admit. To your primitive, fear-based consciousness, they appear a safer choice, but ultimately they cause subconscious guilt and hinder self-growth.
A common way you may be fooling yourself is obeying a belief that insists I can’t do it. You may not express it verbally, but it arrives when faced with something new or challenging. Instantly, your mind reminds you of past events when you tried and failed. You then rationalize, saying it looks too difficult. You shrug your shoulders, convince yourself that you are simply not interested.
In other words, you own this untrue notion so completely that you fool yourself with other lies to support it.
Once entrapped in this self-imposed web of lies, you feel powerless to escape. Why? You would have to admit you are wrong, trust you are capable, and that you just might succeed.
A good step to break free is by catching yourself when those false beliefs pop in. Then, consciously choose other thoughts, countering their negative, limiting input.
A permanent solution is to locate subconscious sources where your inner programming started the cycle. Remembering and resolving early incidents where you gave up your power shifts this belief pattern from the roots.
One of my students recently divorced her husband. They live in a rural area, and she was now responsible to take care of everything herself. When the first winter snow arrived, she felt paralyzed with fear trying to put on tire chains. Her thoughts insisted loudly “I can’t do this!”
Rather than believing what she sensed was an untrue belief trying to trick her, she pushed through her irrational fear and successfully installed the chains.
Working together in an inner discovery session, she released childhood incidents where she had decided she was not capable. By resolving those false notions subconsciously running her life, she felt a surge of confidence, never again doubting her abilities.
Self-lies are immense personal betrayals. With each untrue belief enabled, you become disempowered, feel less deserving and veer further from manifesting your true purpose in being.
These inner falsehoods break your commitment to trust the most important person in your life: You.
