In today’s fractured world, attempting to reconnect might feel overwhelmingly impossible. You look around in shock at how many voted so differently than you. You can’t imagine how others can perceive the same events in such opposing ways.
Honestly, you’re wondering if you even want to reconnect as you ponder what could possibly come next.
Is it even conceivable to resolve such core differences? With so much anger, taking the journey to acceptance of “them” feels futile. You have no clue how to open dialogue or mend gaping wounds.
It may look like the division is “out there,” but actually it’s a symptom of battling an internal divide, desperately trying to feel connected from within.
Truth is, you only connect with others to the degree you feel connected with yourself. You only feel different and disconnected from others because you feel different and disconnected from yourself.
You are the “them” you’re trying to repair.
As a Higher Consciousness being, one of the Big Human Assignments you’re here to accomplish is feeling deep, unwavering connection with others. Yes, even those you can’t imagine having anything in common with. It might be one of your most difficult planetary jobs since it’s far easier to just judge and disconnect.
A while back one of my students shared a life-shifting moment about how he connected.
“I was on my way home from work sitting at a red light. I looked over and saw a filthy, bedraggled homeless man sitting on a bus bench. His stench reached all the way into my car, so I immediately closed the windows, hoping he wouldn’t approach.
“Luckily, it was a long red light because, as I sat there, I observed myself having typical judgmental notions about how someone could possibly have gotten that way. Suddenly, my Higher Consciousness voice piped in.
“I understood that he was simply a mirror of a very suppressed part of me that would just love to be that way; to have no responsibilities, no one to report to, no job to go to. I’ve spent my life covering up that desire by being an overly responsible business executive, dressing impeccably and never being late or lazy.
“Looking over at him, I had an intense awakening experience realizing that he was just me in a different body.
“Immediately, I felt a profound connection with this man. I was ready to jump out and give him a hug, but the light turned green. As I drove off, I opened my car window, looked him straight in the eye and blew him a kiss, saying loudly I love you and meant it. I cried all the way home.”
Disconnection is possibly the source of all life issues, both on a personal and global level.
It’s why fear-based choices such as war and violence are justified. If you saw what was being mirrored, undoubtedly you’d make loving choices instead.
Ultimately, disconnection from yourself causes inauthenticity, believing you can’t connect by being who you are, so you become someone else. (I can help with that)
Your Higher Consciousness, who you really are, knows you’re already connected.
Sensing that, you try to find connectedness in every relationship. Maybe you do—for a while. However, when fears get triggered, judgment happens, and connection gets severed.
Until you locate what’s being mirrored.
Fear of Sameness
Your primitive, fear-based consciousness is terrified to admit that “you are them.”
It believes it’s an easier choice to stay separate, to judge and label. But, in the long run it’s much more difficult and the loss is profound. Afterall, it’s your Big Human Assignment.
Of course, then you’d have to be that powerful, loving, deserving person that you are and that’s super scary.
So, how about starting to heal this fracture by holding up a mirror. Who knows, you just might blow a kiss and say I love you. To yourself and “them.”
