IT'S A GOOD SIGN

Five years ago, choosing to move from a lifetime of city living, to an isolated mountain cottage, I felt driven by something much bigger than me.

I had always believed that living in the forest was an impossibility, a childhood pipe dream. However, the constant signs and “coincidences” that cleared the way to get us up here, were the deal-closers.

Even with the challenges of closing a business, selling our home, getting rid of three quarters of everything we owned and being a full-time caregiver for my recently disabled husband, there was no doubt it was the right thing to do. How could I not listen to, and trust, what was supporting this big move?

So, without entertaining what friends advised about how difficult it would be (“You know, it snows there!), off we went.

Looking back over my life, all the changes I made, large or small, were prompted by signs and signals. Sometimes they were big -- an insistent push to exit something. Sometimes they were just a subtle pull toward something.

There were times I didn’t know the difference. And, other times the two merged together like cream in coffee.

Admittedly, it took quite a few experiences to learn that, even when filled with apprehension, and irrationality, I simply must listen. There. Was. No. Choice.

If I ever ignored those signs, I'd land in some pretty awkward (to say the least) situations. Further options would disappear for no apparent reason; doors would close, dead ends would arrive, and try-as-I-might, nothing would work.

Eventually I learned to just take the hint and go for it.

Patience Patiently

My challenge was to patiently (okay, not always patiently), wait to see what transpired from those blind journeys. Invariably, I’d slap my face when the big "DUH" would arrive, clarifying precisely why that choice had been made. Had to be made.

Sometimes it took years; sometimes minutes, but eventually it all made perfect sense.

This “force” (AKA my Higher Consciousness), has a higher viewpoint of life, able to see the specific lessons I'm here to learn, what I'm here to clean up, what Purpose I'm here to manifest.

It also knows the best kick in the butt to get me wherever I need to be. Or not be.

How Do You Know

As a spiritual teacher who acquired my PhD. in the School of Hard Knocks, one of my roles became helping others trust their life direction, recognize their own signs and signals.

How?

By utilizing deep spiritually-based inner work that releases old programming, embedded fears and false notions. This clears the way for students to perceive and trust where life is pulling or pushing them.

Invariably, when a student is on the brink of a major transformation of some kind, the signs and signals get louder. Simultaneously, more resistance (AKA fear) arrives.

If they choose to ignore the signals, choosing the “safe route,” things start to go screwy. Sometimes they manifest illness; sometimes they get angry or depressed; sometimes addictions appear or reappear. And even more.

Choosing to step out of the comfort of the known isn’t easy. Fears, doubts and confusion take over. Rationality tries to convince that your choice is ridiculous, won't work, etc.

When that happens, I advise students to take action, even just a symbolic gesture, to show the Universe you’re serious about making a change. Invariably, support occurs, often in miraculous ways.

Like learning to hear your body tell you what foods to eat to be healthy, with practice and observation, intuition becomes finetuned. Eventually, trusting those signs and signals, you powerfully forge ahead.

Then, those Big Reasons Why will make sense of it all.

You’ll even understand that, what felt like a sacrifice or a loss was simply creating space for something else to arrive.

Then, more puzzle pieces of your life will fit together and you’ll be saying "Ahha! Of course! I understand! DUH!"

Following the breadcrumbs on an unmarked path, not knowing where it ends or who you will be, is scary. But ultimately, things do work out.

Especially when you travel knowing that the Universe always has your back.
